About Kruisrivier Guest Farm

Tucked into the mighty Swartberg lies a lush oasis called Kruisrivier Guest Farm, where three streams meet before braving the Little Karoo's thirstland. Rich in nostalgia, where visitors can relax and enjoy the peaceful murmur of running water while kids splash in cool pools, Kruisrivier offers Karoo hospitality, tranquility and an experience of yesteryear.

The appreciation of the past is evident in the way of reusing old things in fun ways. The Oregon pine seat from the farm's former long-drop toilet has been scrubbed and varnished, and is now a rustic frame for a mirror in the bathroom of one of the cottages. Cribs that horses once ate out of in the old stables are now bunk beds for kids, complete with stirrups to climb up into them.

The family's Nagmaal wagon, made of stinkwood and yellowwood, is parked in another cottage as part of the décor, while hooks for towels are made of olive wood cut on the farm. Every cottage has its unique style. Kruisrivier is a fun, friendly getaway that your kids and the kid in you will enjoy.

As a holiday for the family this is a great place to go. Rustic and peaceful. No fancy stuff, but back to the basics. Perfectly located . It isn't all moonshine and roses though. The fridge did not function at all during my entire stay there, resulting in me leaving things out on the porch, as it became colder there at night than inside the fridge. There is no servicing of the units at all, something not mentioned beforehand. We stayed one night in The Stable which was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoy the sound of rushing water nearby while we had a brilliant view of the hills to our west and Swartberg Mountains to our north.We were visited by the owners' two friendly Labradors who we named Pie & Chips as they helped finish our dinner.Thanks for a wonderful, peaceful stay; see you again.Glen & Ellis.

Nice to meet enthusiastic hosts who are willing to assist in any way, and (rightly) proud of their cottages. We stayed in an old stable that had been converted into comfortable accommodation.Nice area with lots to do for outdoor enthusiasts.Hot in summer.

Lovely venue, peaceful surroundings. We would have liked some coffee, milk tea and sugar on arrival. Admittedly it was supplied when we asked for it.What was disappointing to come back at midnight from the festivities and found the room unserviced and the bed unmade. I wish we were told about this beforehand.The distance to Calitzdorp is a bit of a handicap, but we knew that before.I think some coffee, tea and a small bowl of rusks would have gone a long way towards excellence.
