About Thaba Manzi Ranch

This is a 2000 acre game and cattle ranch nestled below and incorporating two and a half kilometres of the cliffs, kloofs and mountain forest of the Magaliesberg. Thaba Manzi is a venue where you can truly escape from the city life. Come and experience the wonder of multi-coloured indigenous nguni cattle and pedi sheep, grazing alongside haartebeest, eland, geemsbok, nyala, zebra, blesbok and graceful giraffes.

Enjoy an evening braai with the sounds of the bush and the calls of the jackals as background music. For the more active, we offer horse trails, hiking and climbing in the mountains and game viewing on numerous internal cycling and walking trails.

There are four comfortable self-catering cottages accommodating from two to four people comfortably and handling a total of 12 people sharing. Each cottage is individually furnished and uniquely designed with Victorian slipper baths and double showers. They all have fully equipped kitchens, their own braai areas and a shared pool area.

Safari: Enjoy Giraffe, Impala, Blesbok, Nyala, Eland, Gemsbok, Hartebeest, Jackals, Baboons, Warthogs and Vervet Monkeys as well as the cattle, sheep and horses of this African Farm. Horse riding, walking and cycling trails provide access.

Chalet is comfortable and clean. Bath and shower. Some negatives. Hiking trail overgrown and tick infested. Cannot walk in game camp because of ticks. Vehicles not allowed. It is a working farm with cattle, goats and horses. Manure and, of course, flies everywhere. No water from 21h00 to 07h00. Not recommended.

Signs to the place is minimal. Upon arriving, the place was dirty, full of ant nests, spiders, advised that the room fan did not work, dirty stove, flies all over, live spiders in the fridge - no doom for the insects. Stove was dirty - didn't even use it. Not enough cutlery and crockery to use. No complimentary tea, coffee, sugar. The dish cloths were dirty. There were cobwebs all over, under the furniture, the tables, the corners. Accomodation was basic but comfortable enough. Beautiful scenery with lovely walks. Flies became unbearable. I understand it's a farm but I feel like accomodation could put fly traps up to help their guests feel more comfortable. Water was sporadic, sometimes on, so times off, however they were proactive in resolving the problem. ESTER WAS AMAZING and made us feel very welcome. Rooms were cleaned well everyday. Rooms share a wall so you can hear the other guests, however we only experienced this on our last night, it would have been a bit uncomfortable if we had neighbors all 4 nights. All...

We enjoyed our stay at Thabamanzi. Esther is very helpful and quick to respond. When we arrived we were informed that the water pump is turned off at 9pm. This meant that we had to make sure we had showerd and washed dishes before then. We had hoped to do a horse riding session but were told that this wasnt possible during our visit which was a little dissappointing. All-in-all it was an enjoyable weekend amd we managed to take some nice walks as well.

The accommodation is very basic. The linen, couch etc is a little old But For the price it was fine. The room adjoining is very close and not noise proof so you can hear the neighbours next door. For a weekend out of the city and to experience the peace and quiet of a farm- it was perfect. The view was beautiful and we enjoyed the sunrise and sunset walks as the cattle moved about.
